Alvaro Bautista finished in fifth position and set the crown on the 2013 season using NISSIN's brake abilities!

Round 18 (08/11/2013 - 10/11/2013 at the Valencia Circuit)

The 18th round of the chequered 2013 season was held at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit. The 4,005 meter long track consists of five right corners and nine left corners. It’s one of the shortest tracks that is made up with middle-low speed corners and short straights. The track characteristics require frequency in brake use and a heavy workload amongst GP calendars. Therefore NISSIN puts in dry conditions high-mass carbon brake discs. However, the temperature control is not demanded. The key points to win the race is the first corner after the speed down of the home straight, the second corner and the eighth corner after the straight end using braking abilities. The Valencia circuit is the proper circuit to show NISSIN’s brake abilities by its stable controllability.

NISSIN rider Alvaro Bautista (GO & FUN Honda Gresini/HONDA) gained the seventh position in Qualifying using NISSIN’s brake abilities. Having started from the seventh position of the grid, Bautista followed the top group for the last race of the season. He fought with Honda and Yamaha’s factory riders. Bautista was battling with Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) using his braking technique and overtook him many times. He finished in fifth position and concluded in top five at the last race of the season.

CRT rider Bryan Staring (GO&FUN Honda Gresini/FTR HONDA) finished in 19th position.

In the Moto2 class, Franco MORBIDELLI (Thai Honda PTT Gresini Moto2/SUTER) finished in 17th position.

Lucas MAHIAS (Tech3/TECH3) finished in 24th position.

Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman (Idemitsu HondaTeam Asia/MORIWAKI) finished in 25th position.

Doni Tata Pradita (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2/SUTER) finished in 27th position.

In the Moto3 class, having started from the sixth position of the second grid, Nicollo Antonelli (GO&FUN Gresini Moto3/FTR HONDA) followed the race in good form and gained his positions. But he crashed in lap 17 and came back to the race.

Antonelli finished in 27th position.

Hyuga Watanabe (Team La Fonte Tascarasing/FTR Honda) finished in 19th position.

Lorenzo Baldassarri (GO&FUN Gresini Moto3/FTR HONDA) finished in 20th position.

Hafiq Azmi (Team LaFonte Tascaracing/FTR HONDA) finished in 25th position.

Alvaro Bautista−GO&FUN Honda Gresini/MotoGP−5th

“It hasn't been an easy weekend because we have had some problems with the set-up of the bike here. We have continued to work on making small changes to try and improve it for the race and after getting probably my best start of the year I was able to stick with the front guys for the first few laps. Lorenzo was slowing the pace down at the front and that gave me a chance to run with the guys at the front and I was in a position to make an attack but the last thing I wanted to do was get involved with the two guys who were fighting for the title. Once the soft tyre dropped off I lost a little ground but I am happy because we have finished the championship in sixth place overall as the second best non-factory bike. I want to thank everybody in the team, Showa, Nissin, Honda and GO & FUN. Tomorrow we start working on the future.”

Franco MORBIDELLI−Thai Honda PTT Gresini Moto2−17th

“I am really happy with my experience in Moto2 over the past few weeks. Here at Valencia we worked in a progressive way and achieved the maximum I think we could have hoped for. I had fun on the bike and I will always remember this experience. I am sure it will be of great use to me in the future.”
