Alvaro Bautista finished in 7th position at the MisanoGP

Alvaro Bautista finished in seventh position at the Misano GP!
Bautista gained nine points at his team's home soil.

Round.13 (13/09/2013 - 15/09/2013 at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli)

Round 13, the Grand Prix of San Marino, has taken place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.
The track is located close to famous leisure spots in Italy such as Rimini and Cattolica and this Grand Prix is attended by a lot of racing fans each year. The circuit name is renamed after the Italian young star Marco Simoncelli. A bright future was expected for the 24-year-old NISSIN rider. He passed away in 2011 due to a racing accident. Therefore the Misano Grand Prix is an important race for NISSIN, as well as the venue, in the name of a rider who was well loved all over the world.

The 4,226 meter long track consists of 16 corners (left: 6, right: 10) and the corners are considered to be of low to medium speed. However, the longest straight of this track is only 565 meters and braking times are the longest and most heavily loaded amongst other Grands Prix. The narrow course has a few overtaking points and it requires high brake controllability. Especially riders face a real test of their riding skills at the 11th corner, which is an ultrafast speed corner after the highest speed point of this track.

NISSIN rider Alvaro Bautista (GO & FUN Honda Gresini/HONDA) managed his lap time close to factory riders during free practices using brake controllability at those sections. Bautista managed stable lap times on Sunday's race despite of the eighth position of the grid in Qualifying session. Bautista finished in seventh position in the long distance 28-lap-race. He added nine points at his team's home soil; Gresini's workshop is quite close to the circuit.

CRT rider Bryan Staring (GO&FUN Honda Gresini/FTR HONDA) crashed out in lap 25 and retired.

In the Moto2 class, Luis Rossi (Tech3/TECH3) finished in 20th position.

Franco Mobidelli (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2/SUTER) who is replaced from Doni Tata Pradita finished in 21st position.

Malaysian rider Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman (Idemitsu HondaTeam Asia/MORIWAKI) who is replaced from Yuki Takahashi from this race finished in 24th position.
Thitipong WAROKORN (Thai Honda PTT Gresini Moto2/SUTER) crashed out in lap 16 but he came back to the race and finished in 27th position.

In the Moto3 class, Nicolo Antonelli (GO & FUN Gresini Moto3/FTR Honda) started from fifth position of the second row on the grid and fought in the second group, which consists of five riders.
Antonelli finished in eighth position and gained eight points.

Alessandro Tonucci (Team La Fonte Tascarasing/FTR Honda) finished in 16th position and missed championship points.
Lorenzo Baldassarri (GO&FUN Gresini Moto3/FTR HONDA) finished in 23rd position. Hyuga Watanabe (Team La Fonte Tascarasing/FTR Honda) finished in 28th position despite of a crash in lap 20.

Alvaro Bautista-GO&FUN Honda Gresini/MotoGP-7th

“We expected a different result than this because we were competitive during practice and in the warm-up this morning but during the race I was struggling to get the bike turning into the corners, which is strange because we didn't touch the setting. Our pace was slower than practice and that's not normal so it's important we understand why this happened to make sure it doesn't happen again. It's a shame because we had the potential today to fight for fifth or even fourth place. This is racing and now we have to put the result behind us and concentrate on the next race in Spain. I am disappointed for the team because it's their home race. We were on the podium here last year and I would have loved to give them another great result.”

Niccolo Antonelli-GO&FUN Gresini Moto3-8th

“I really had fun out there today and lost count of how many overtakes I made. Hopefully I put on a show for the crowd to enjoy in my home race. I felt confident with the bike and I think the progress we have made recently augurs well for the final stages of the championship. I fought from start to finish for fourth place and even though I finished eighth I am still happy. The team have done a great job to make progress together and we are all more confident about the future now.”
