Alvaro Bautista finished in 5th position at the BritishGP

Alvaro Bautista finished in fifth position at the British GP!

Bautista managed two consecutive Top 5 finishes!

Round.12 (30/08/2013 - 01/09/2013 at the Silverstone Circuit)

The twelfth round of the Championship was held at Silverstone Circuit. This year is the fourth year since the British Grand Prix moved its venue from the Donington Park Circuit to Silverstone Circuit. In the last two years, the MotoGP used the start line as F1 does, but this year the MotoGP used the start line as the British Grand Prix in 2010.

The 5,900 metre long Silverstone Circuit is the longest track amongst 17 other Grands Prix. The course consists of eight left corners and ten right corners. And the flat track has four straights, which are connected with high-speed corners. The Siverstone Circuit is one of the highest speed tracks and a wide track length allows the riders to find their riding line flexible, but it is difficult to take a proper line.
The proper braking points, to avoid bumps on the track and to find a setup in order to follow the track conditions, are key points to win the race.

The track requires a stopping power of the brakes, its high controllability and stability. NISSIN rider Alvaro Bautista managed the high performance of his brakes, he earned his very first time pole position in the 2011 season.

Alvaro Bautista (GO & FUN Honda Gresini/HONDA) showed once again his brilliant performance, a fast and skilful machinery control on the Sunday race. Having started from the eighth position, from the third row of the grid, he fought a thrilling battle on Sunday using NISSIN brakes high performance. Bautista fought a one-to-one battle with Valentino Rossi (Yamaha Factory), who has a reputation for super brake management as shown in the tenth and eleventh round. In the end of the race, Bautista overtook Rossi using sharp braking, though Rossi overtook Bautista straight after again. However, Bautista overtook Rossi once more and showed a breathtaking battle. Bautista finished in fifth position close to 0.065 seconds behind Rossi. Bautista is now in seventh position of the World Championship.

CRT rider Bryan Staring (GO&FUN Honda Gresini/FTR HONDA) finished in 21st position.

Once again, the Moto2 class race was held anomalistic at 11:20 a.m. on Sunday. Yuki Takahashi (Idemitsu HondaTeam Asia/MORIWAKI) finished in 23rd position. Luis Rossi (Tech3/TECH3) finished in 24th position.
Doni Tata Pradita (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2/Suter) finished in 26th position, and Thitipong WAROKORN (Thai Honda PTT Gresini Moto2/SUTER) finished in 27th position.

In the Moto3 class, Nicolo Antonelli (GO&FUN Gresini Moto3/FTR HONDA) finished in 13th position and earned three points.
Lorenzo Baldassarri (GO&FUN Gresini Moto3/FTR HONDA) finished in 18th position. Hyuga Watanabe (Team La Fonte Tascarasing/FTR Honda) finished in 23rd position. Alessandro Tonucci (Team La Fonte Tascarasing/FTR Honda) crashed out in lap 13 and retired.

Alvaro Bautista-GO&FUN Honda Gresini/MotoGP-5th

“Unfortunately once again I have had to concede to Valentino but we had a lot of fun out there. The last lap was really nice because we overtook each other several times but unfortunately I couldn't make it stick and he beat me by just 0.065 seconds! That's a shame but I am happy anyway because I have improved my feeling with the bike again here, we were able to make up a lot of ground at the start of the race and confirm our recent good form again. We just need to take another little step to be even more competitive but it is coming. Hopefully we can have another nice race in the next Grand Prix at Misano, the team's home race.”

Nicolo Antonelli-GO&FUN Gresini Moto3-13rd

“I am satisfied but not completely happy. It was important to finish and to score points but I would have liked to have been closer to the front. Unfortunately I lost too much ground in the opening laps and couldn't recover the gap to the group in front. My feeling with the bike wasn't perfect today but I tried to do the best with what I had. We'll try to do better at Misano! ”
