Alvaro Bautista Finished in 6th Position!

Alvaro Bautista finished in sixth position!

The second half of the season starts in a good shape with high fighting power of NISSIN!!

Round.10

(16/08/2013 - 18/08/2013 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway)

After a three-weeks summer holiday, the second half of the season of the MotoGP restarted from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the US. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is well known as the holy round of the Motorsports of the US and track of the INDY 500. There are not that many races on the track in the year. MotoGP is the only two wheels race on this track. The 4,216 km long track consists of 16 corners (right: 10, left: 6) using part of the oval course for the 4-wheels and part of the infield. The flat track has few ups and downs and the 16 corners are typically driven with middle-low speed. Therefore there are only few hard braking points at entering corners and the brakes require stable braking controllability compared to stopping power on its performance.

The NISSIN brakes have a reputation for their high performance of controllability and adjustable abilities of both, controller and machinery speed. Alvaro Bautista (GO & FUN Honda Gresini/HONDA), skilfully pulled out those abilities and got the fifth spot at the Qualifying session on Saturday.

Bautista showed a thrilling battle at the 27-laps race on Sunday. He started bad and had a distance from the top group but he flowed up lap by lap with stable high lap timings. In lap nine at the 10th corner, Bautista went up to the fourth position with excellent brake controllability.

After that, he played a thrilling battle till the end of the race and was swapping positions with other riders using the advantage of the brake controllability.  The thrilling battle continued till the last corner of the last lap. Bautista played bravely, however, he finished in sixth position.

Bautista's 0.166-second gap from the fourth position showed a heroic race.

CRT rider Bryan Staring (GO&FUN Honda Gresini/FTR HONDA) finished in 19th position. Luis Rossi (Tech3/TECH3) finished in 24th. Doni Tata Pradita (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2/SUTER) in 29th position.

In the Moto2 class, Yuki Takahashi (Idemitsu HondaTeam Asia/MORIWAKI) finished in 22nd position. Thitipong WAROKORN (Thai Honda PTT Gresini Moto2/SUTER) who replaced Rattapark Wilairot, finished in 30th position at his first ever Grand Prix of the World Championship. Alessandro Tonucchi (Team LaFonte Tascaracing/FTR HONDA) crashed out in lap four. Hyuga Watanabe (Team LaFonte Tascaracing/FTR HONDA) also crashed out in lap 17. Lorenzo Baldassarri (GO&FUN Gresini Moto3/FTR HONDA) went back to the pit garage with tree laps remaining and retired.

Alvaro Bautista − GO&FUN Honda Gresini/MotoGP − 6th:

“I am really happy and I think we had a great race today. Obviously I would have preferred to finish fourth but sixth place and the way we got it, is not a bad result. Unfortunately I had to push the front harder than I would have liked in the first part of the race and we paid the price at the end, when I was unable to defend my position from Crutchlow. It's a shame but I am happy anyway, we have a fantastic feeling with the bike right now and we are doing a good job so I want to say special thanks to the team and the guys at Showa, Nissin and of course to Honda. Now we can look to the future with even more confidence.”
