Round 3 (03/05/2013 - 05/05/2013) at the Jerez Circuit

At the third round of the 2013 season the venue moved to Europe. The traditional Spanish Grand Prix at the Jerez Circuit is held since 1987 and various good games have been held there in the past. The track consists of 13 corners in total (five left corners and eight right corners) and the large number of variation includes tight hairpin corners and high-speed corners. The short straights and a few passing points make a thrilling race. The characteristic of Jerez circuit requires fine and thin braking controllability, more than other typical European circuits.

As the Spanish super stars had a good showing from the beginning of the season, 70,000 spectators went to see them again on Saturday. NISSIN rider Alvaro Bautista (GO&FUN Honda Gresini), had a great day at his home soil and also favourite track. Bautista started from sixth place on the second grid and showed a strong run in front of his fans.

The Grand Prix weekend was held in good weather conditions and the temperature of the race day increased, compared to the Free Practices and Qualifying Sessions.
Under this tough condition, Bautista could manage with the tyres life and ride with the strength of NISSIN brakes. Bautista battled for fifth place with Factory riders of Honda and Yamaha. Bautista finished in sixth position and more than 110,000 Spanish spectators at the Jerez circuit were thrilled.

Having started from eight position from the third grid, Stefan Bradl (LCR Honda MotoGP/HONDA) made a good rhythm in the early session and crashed out in lap four.
CRT rider, Bryan Staring (GO & FUN Honda Gresini/HONDA) finished in 16th position.

In the Moto2 class, Yuki Takahashi (Idemitsu HondaTeam Asia/MORIWAKI) who drove with a new chassis from the Free Practice three from Saturday, finished in 23rd position. Luis Rossi (Tech3/TECH3) finished in 25th position. Doni Tata Pradita (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2/Suter) finished in 26th position. Ratthapark Wilairot (Thai Honda PTT Gresini Moto2/SUTER) crashed out in lap 2.

In the Moto3 class, having started from sixth position from the second grid, Niccolo Antonelli (GO & FUN Gresini Moto3/FTR Honda) was a bit behind from the top group but made a thrilling battle. However, Antonelli crashed out in lap 11 and retired. The race was stopped by a red flag after the crash of French rider Alan Techer. This time more than two third of the 23 laps were completed, so no restart was required. Alessandro Tonucchi (Team La Fonte Tascarasing/FTR Honda) finished in 18th position. Lorenzo Baldassarri (GO&FUN Gresini Moto3/FTR HONDA) finished in 22nd position and Hyuga Watanabe (Team La Fonte Tascarasing/FTR Honda) finished in 24th position.

Alvaro Bautista (GO&FUN Honda Gresini) 6th:
„That was a long and hard race because of the heat, which made it tough on the tyres. I didn't get the best start and lost two positions, which I was able to make up although it was when I closed down on the group ahead of me that we started to struggle for grip. It is basically the same problem we have been having all weekend but I also started to have some problems with the front, which wasn't allowing me to get on the gas as I wanted. Anyway, we gave 100% and it's a positive result that gives us something to build on in the test tomorrow. I want to thank the team and sponsors for their continued support.“
