Alvaro Bautista Finished in 6th Position at The Grandprix of Qatar

ALVARO BAUTISTA FINISHED IN 6TH POSITION AT THE GRAND PRIX OF QATAR!
EXCITING 2013 SEASON KICK-OFF!

Round.1 MotoGPЃi04/04/2013-07/04/2013 at the Losail International Circuit)

The opening round of the 2013 season started at the Losail International Circuit in suburban Doha. The Grand Prix in a middle east country, marks its 10th anniversary to attend the MotoGP race since 2004 and is held as only night time event since 2008.

The track condition is slippery from the sand, as the track is located in the middle of a desert. The sand sweeps from lap to lap. The 1,068 m long straight line requires hard braking. Therefore, riders choose high-mass spec brakes which withstand a high load. The track has a length of 5,380 m, it contains 10 right corners and 6 left corners. The key to be competitive at this track, is brake controllability while entering the corners.

The night time event schedules Free Practices on Thursday and Friday, Qualifying session on Saturday and the Race day on Sunday. The combined times from Free Practice sessions will determine the participation in the 165 minutes final qualifying practice, according the New Qualifying system in the MotoGP class.

At the Qualifying 2, NISSIN rider, Stefan Bradl (LCR Honda MotoGP/HONDA) secured a 5th position in the second row and started his season with a second position in the Honda group.

Another NISSIN rider, Alvaro Bautista (GO & FUN Honda Gresini/HONDA) secured an 8th position in the third row.

The race started at 10:00 p.m local time. Bradl followed the top group with good rhythm but crashed in lap 9. Bradl had to retire.

Bautista completed his season in 6th position and started on 8th position. His pace was constant.

The CRT rider, Bryan Staring (GO & FUN Honda Gresini/FTR HONDA) crashed and retired in lap 2.

In the Moto2 class, Yuki Takahashi (MORIWAKI) from the new team Idemitsu Honda Team Asia, finished in 23rd position. The team completed the first race and gathered datas.

Doni Tata Pradita (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2/Suter), who makes his debut this year in the World Championship, finished in 24th position.

Ratthapark Wilairot (Thai Honda PTT Gresini Moto2/Suter) and Luis Rossi (Tech3/TECH3) crashed and retired from the race.

In the Moto3 class, Alessandro Tonucchi (Team La Fonte Tascarasing/FTR Honda) finished in 18th position.

Only one Japanese rider in this class, Hyuga Watanabe (Team La Fonte Tascarasing/FTR Honda) finished in 27th position.

Alvaro Bautista (GO & FUN Honda Gresini) 6th:

«We have had the same problems in the race that we had in practice. I tried to push hard at the start and stay with the lead group but I didn't have the feeling or stability under braking. I stayed with them for a while but I was taking too many risks so I just had to try and make it to the end and defend my position. We're hopeful that the problems we have had here, which were also the same problems as last year, are down to the track conditions and won't be as bad in the coming races. We will keep working but I am happy with the job the team is doing and I expect us to make big progress in Texas.»
