MotoGP Round-8 GermanyGP

Stefan Bradl finished in 5th position at his home soil!
Alvaro Bautista rapidly caught up his 7th position!

MotoGP Round8: The Grand Prix of Germany(06/07/12 - 08/07/12, at Sachsenring Circuit)

The 3,671 meter long track consists of 10 left corners compared to just 3 right corners, it is the second shortest track of the MotoGP calendar. The first half consists of middle/low speed corners against high speed at the last half of the track. The tight first half session doesn't have any passing points and game points seems to be T11(right), T12(left) and T13(left) at the last half. This high speed corners requires high stability as well as high controllability of the breaks, which means that it is important machine bend by breaks. The short and consists of number of corners in Sachsenring which doesn't allow riders to have resting points. On the other side, the breaks temperatures doesn't decrease. In fact, riders manage their bikes with only little awareness of the shift of their breaks performance.

The race week-end on Friday and Saturday was dominated by rain, but the MotoGP class race on Sunday was held under clear and sunny weather conditions.

The 30 lap MotoGP race was held at 13:00 p.m. local time. Stefan Bradl(LCR Honda MotoGP/HONDA)had high expectations from his local fans and managed to finith sixth fastest in the Qualifying session. Bradl had a brilliant start and followed the top group. The German rookie maintained his top position in the second group using the maximum potential of the NISSIN break controllability, and managed to block his veteran rider Valentino Rossi. The local hero finished in 5th position in front of his home crowd.

Alvaro Bautista(San Carlo Honda Gresini/HONDA)started from the back row due to his penalty from Assen and reached Bradl's group in the last laps, finishing the race in 7th position. The Spaniard made his way through 13 riders. Michele Pirro(San Carlo Honda Gresini/FTR)retired due to machine trouble.

The Grand Prix opened with the Moto2 class. Xavier Simeon(Tech 3 Racing/TECH3) finished in his best result in this season, finishing in 8th position after he started from the 4th position on the starting grid. Ratthapark Wilairot(Thai Honda Gresini Moto2/SUTER) started from the 16th position and took aim to gain more points. But Wilairot crashed in lap 26. Gino Rea(Federal Oil Gresini Moto2/SUTER) finished in 18th position, Max Neukirchner (Kiefer Racing/KALEX) finished in 19th position.

The Moto3 class scheduled last in the Grand Prix of Sachsenring. Rain which started just after the finish of the MotoGP class race, delayed the Moto3 class race starting 30 minutes later under wet condition. However, the rain had stopped just after the start of the 27 laps race and the surface became nearly dry condition. Niccolo Antonelli(San Carlo Gresini Moto3/FTR HONDA) finished 12th under fast changing surface conditions, at his first year in the World Championship and gained 4 points. Danny Webb(Mahindra Racing/MAHINDRA)finished in 18th position, Kenta Fujii(Technomag-CIP-TSR/TSR HONDA) finished 23rd position.Marcel Schrotter (Mahindra Racing/MAHINDRA) crashed in lap 25.

Stefan Bradl-LCR Honda MotoGP-5位

"It has been a tough race since the beginning because I had to fight to maintain the gap to the group behind me. But I took another good start and this is very positive: after that I was capable to follow the Yamaha riders for a while but I could feel that our corner speed was not enough and our edge grip in the left side was poor because after 3 or 4 laps the bike started to spin already. That caused me some issues because I was not able to attack them and in the middle of the race I had to let them go. From that moment I had to manage the group behind me till the chequered flag and it was very difficult. So I had to push myself to the maximum to block Rossi, Hayden and Barbera in the last 3 laps. I am very happy about this result because I could relegate them behind me and this fifth place is a fantastic result for me, for my family, for the Team and for my local fans."

Alvaro Bautista-San Carlo Honda Gresini-7位

“I am happy because to start from last and finish seventh is a good result. It's just a shame that I lost so much time at the start trying to pass the CRTs. I was trying to do it without taking too many risks and then once I got past them I had a lot of sliding from the rear tyre, which made it a long and difficult race. I tried to adapt my riding style and use the throttle in a different way and in the second half of the race I was able to close down the guys in front of me. I actually managed to pass Rossi and Bradl on the penultimate lap but I lost the front and almost crashed. I wanted to try again on the last lap but as we came into the braking zone at the bottom of the hill I could see the yellow flags so that was that. I had another look in the last corner but couldn't make the pass. Anyway, the result is good and for that I want to thank the team for giving 100% all weekend even though they knew this would be a tough race.  ”
