MotoGP Round-6 Great BritainGP

Bautista broke his own record by finishing in 4th position!

Bradl finished 6 consecutive top 10 positions.

MotoGP Round.6: The Grand Prix of Great Britain (15/06/12 -  17/06/12, Silverstone Circuit)

The Grand Prix of Great Britain taken place at the Silverstone circuit.

Out of 18 races on the calendar in the season 2012, 1/3 of the races were already held. This fast layout circuit consists of four straights and the average speed is 174.129km/h(2011:Casey Stoner). This high speed is course followed by Mugello circuit in Italy and the Phillip Island circuit in Australia.

The Grand Prix of Great Britain was held at the Donington Park circuit until 2009 and moved then to the Silverstone venue in 2010. The track is generally flat, so once the riders get a smooth rhythm to ride however it is quite easy to understand the breaking points, although it is harder for who have never ridden here before. The track layout doesn't require hard breaking, but it is important to control the speed quickly. Furthermore, frigid British weather is an unstable factor for the breaks.  For teams who adapt to sudden weather changes, it is  possible to win this race.

The 20 lap MotoGP race was held under low temperatures (Temperature:15, Track:23), but in dry condition at 13:00 p.m local time.Alvaro Bautista(San Carlo Honda Gresini/HONDA)started from his very first pole position, and showed talent using his adroit break control technique fighting with Honda Factory riders. Bautista broke his own record by finishing in 4th position.

Stefan Bradl(LCR Honda MotoGP/HONDA) finished a brave eighth-place, after injuring the fourth finger on his left and when he crashed on Saturday morning.Michele Pirro (San Calro Honda Gresini FTR-Honda) finished in 13th position and was able to gain 3 more points.

In the Moto2 class, Ratthapark Wilairot(Thai Honda Gresini Moto2/SUTER) finished in 15th position, thanks to a proper set up and gained one more point. Max Neukirchner (Kiefer Racing/KALEX)finished in 17th position. After the injury at the Le Mans Grand Prix,  Xavier Simeon(Tech 3 Racing/TECH3) was back racing and finished in 21st position. Gino Rea(Federal Oil Gresini Moto2/SUTER) finished in 24th position.

In the Moto3 class, Niccolo Antonelli(San Carlo Gresini Moto3/FTR HONDA) finished in 13th position and gained 3 points. Kenta Fujii(Technomag-CIP-TSR/TSR HONDA) finished 24th position, Marcel Schrotter (Mahindra Racing/MAHINDRA) finished in 26th position. Danny Webb retired due to a machine trouble in lap 12.

Alvaro Bautista-San Carlo Honda Gresini-4th

"It has been a great weekend and it has confirmed the progress we have made since Catalunya. I am so happy to finish so close to the podium. Maybe I could have attacked for third at the end but it would have been risky and I just wanted to run with them to the end and not make mistakes. We have brought home some big points for the championship which was important for me and the team. Yesterday on pole and today just five seconds off the win ? that is a very positive weekend and I hope we can continue from here. I'm pleased with the progress we have made, which is credit to the team engineers and to Showa. Our objective now is to take another step forward and run with the front guys on a more consistent basis."

Stefan Bradl-LCR Honda-8th

“We can be happy overall because today we improved our pace both in the warm up and in the race. Unfortunately yesterday I crashed in FP3 and that cost us a lot of track time but it could be worse than this: I mean I could break my finger. So it’s not been the perfect weekend for us but we have to take the positive things. Today my start was not perfect due to the injured finger and I lost the feeling for the first laps. Then I got stopped by some riders and it was tough to overtake them. In the middle of the race Crutchlow passed me and I made a small mistake with the clutch because the downshifting was harder with this painful finger. Anyway our lap times till the end of the race were pretty fast so this means we have a good potential: let’s see what we can do in Assen”
