MotoGP Round-3 EstorilGP

Bautista finished in 6th place and Bradl finished in 9th place!
NISSIN supported riders in the MotoGP class scored Championship points

MotoGP Round.3: Grand Prix of Portugal(40/05/12-06/05/12, Estoril Circuit)

The MotoGP race was held at the Estoril Circuit located in the very western part of the Iberian Peninsula, and took place just after the Grand Prix of Spain.
The circuit has hosted MotoGP races 13 times. The tracks layout consists of a 986m long straight, 9 right corners and 4 left corners. It is bumpy and has variety of corners, more to it than meets the eye. The track requires hard breaking and its followed by the Twing Ring Circuit in Japan which also requires hard breaking. Therefore the breaks are demanding both, control and performance at a high level throughout all of the corners. As a result, the breaks temperature creates a strong tendency for elevating compared with other Grand Prix tracks. (I would like to say that the breaks temperature easily elevate at the Estoril  Circuits compared with anthers) Furthermore, because of heavy machinery and its speed, the breaks temperature of the 1000cc machines is raised easily according to the data of the last 2 races.

Under this stringent conditions, the NISSIN breaks showed a high and extremely stable performance and supported the NISSIN riders. The riders
fought tough battles using the NISSIN high technology in good weather on Sunday and fascinated the  48,591 spectators in Estoril.

Alvaro Bautista (San Carlo Honda Gresini/HONDA)was in a good position from the begging and finished 6th and left Valentino Rossi(Ducati) behind him. MotoGP rookie Stefan Bradl(LCR Honda MotoGP/HONDA)settled into an exciting battle with Yamaha Factory rider Ben Spies. Bradl finished on the 9th position and took a points for 3 consecutive races. CRT rider Michele Pirro (San Calro Honda Gresini FTR-Honda) finished 14th and scored 2 points.

In the Moto2 class, it was thrilling battle for the top and middle groups. NISSIN rider Xavier Simeon(Tech 3 Racing/TECH3), starting from the 22th position, came up to the 16th position on the first lap. Simeon finished in 13th position and scored the Championship points. Max Neukirchner (Kiefer Racing/KALEX)finished 23th. Gino Rea(Federal Oil Gresini Moto2/MORIWAKI) entered the pit on lap 7th due to a machine trouble but was back on the track and finished 28th.

In the Moto3 class, Niccolo Antonelli(San Carlo Gresini Moto3/FTR HONDA) finished in 6th position, in  his only  third race in the World Championship. Marcel Schrotter (Mahindra Racing/MAHINDRA) finished 19th, Kenta Fujii(Technomag-CIP-TSR/TSR HONDA) finished 23th. Danny Webb(Mahindra Racing/MAHINDRA) retired due to an engine trouble.

Alvaro Bautista-San Carlo Honda Gresini-6th

“It was a tough race. After practice I thought I had the pace to be fighting for fourth place but I didn't have a good feeling for the front and was struggling to turn the bike. It cost me a few valuable tenths that made me lose touch with Dovizioso and Crutchlow. Now we will have a close look at the data and try to understand why this happened, as well as working on our weak point which is braking. Sixth place isn't a bad result but we should have been much closer to the two Yamaha Tech3 bikes. We have a test tomorrow and that will be very useful to us. ”

Stefan Bradl-LCR Honda-7th

“Well... this has been a very hard weekend for us in general. We have struggled a lot with rear grip immediately on Friday morning but Saturday we have found some good adjustments. Unfortunately for the all race we had some issues going into the corners. My start was ok and I could make some good manoeuvres in the beginning but then I was a bit on the limit and in the middle of the race I was losing too much in the corners entries which was our problem all the time during this weekend. Especially in the fast corners I needed to wait in opening the throttle and this cost us a lot of time. We have never had this problem before and Spies had a better pace than us during the race but I can say this is another good weekend for me and the Team”
